THE WORKING AREAS OF THE ONCOLOGIC SURGICAL DEPARTMENT
According to its objective, our department is fully and appropriately equipped with the following examination and treatment units to clear up and treat oncologic diseases:
Diagnostic and interventional radiology
In the X-ray imaging diagnostic process, we dispose of all established techniques: Conventional and digital radiographs, digital subtractionangiography, sonotopography and interventional radiology.
(Please find further information in chapter "Radiological diagnostic process and therapy")
Diagnostic and interventional endoscopy
We carry out examinations, extraction of tissue samples and minor interventions in the interior of the body with highly developed speculum devices.
(Please find further explanations in chapter "Endoscopic diagnostic process and therapy")
Our four operating theatres
are differently equipped according to the respective surgical methods. They meet all standards of high-performance medicine.
Our equipment has been completed by a laser that allows special surgical techniques that are particularly significant in growth surgery.
In the surgical block, there is the
recovery room.
In here, all patients are intensively medically monitored up to two hours after the operation by an anesthesia carer and by the anaesthetist on duty.
Department of intensive medicine
The interdisciplinary intensive care unit of our hospital disposes of five beds and is headed by anaesthetists. In close co-operation, also patients that need special monitoring are cared for in this unit.
As "anaesthesia" means elimination of pain through anaesthetics, also the
pain therapy
is within the responsibility of our anaesthetists. They have various methods to control acute or chronic pain.
Laboratory diagnostic process
With the help of its own computer system, laboratory provides us with a huge number of individual studies each year.
Apart from all standard examinations there is the possibility for growth marker determination and lymphocyte differentiation.
Growth markers are matters and cellular changes, the analysis of which makes possible a statement about a present malignant disease and about its course - especially under therapy.
Interdisciplinary co-operation
Like with the anaesthetists, we are having animated contact and constructive co-operation also with all other medical disciplines of our hospital.
Also the function diagnostic process of the internists is at our disposal, like for example the ECG. The often necessary lung function check is carried out in these rooms as well.
Of course, you will also be treated by medical colleagues of other specialisations if need be.
